Change is Not Easy…Especially at Disney

Now I don’t know about any of you guys out there but I just can’t seem to get it right. I continually refer to Disney “things” by their old names rather than their new names. For example, I tend to refer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as MGM. I just can’t help myself. Maybe it’s from the fact that I have spent most years of my life calling this park MGM or maybe it’s just an easier mouthful. Either way I still confuse the little ones in my family every time I talk about MGM because they have no idea what I am talking about.

Also, I am having trouble with the name change of Downtown Disney. Not only do I often refer to the new Disney Springs as Downtown Disney but when I do catch myself and refer to the location as Disney Springs my family gets confused because they are so used to location being called Downtown Disney.

Does anyone else find that they often refer to new Disney “things” by their old names? Let me know in the comments section below!

  1. Isn’t Hollywood Studios supposed to have another name change or was that just a rumor? Just today I was telling my husband something about Downtown Disney then caught myself and said Springs, Disney Springs… it’s confusing because the one in California is still Downtown Disney. I can’t think of other instances, though, where I call something by it’s old name at Disney… though sometimes I do say “Grand California” when meaning “California Adventure.”

    1. The hollywood Studios name change is a rumor nothing has been confirmed but I wouldn’t be surprised if this rumor was actually true. And yes the Downtown Disney name change is extremely confusing! Thanks for sharing!
